Weapons on Wheels 2 is my most recent Flash/Web-game release.  It was released in May 2013 and is powered off of the Starling framework utilizing GPU-accelerated Stage3D.

Weapons on Wheels 2

Summary

Weapons on Wheels 2 is the sequel to my first game, Weapons on Wheels.  Like the original, Weapons on Wheels 2 is a 2D racing game with an added twist of weapons used to blast opponents off the track.

One of my biggest personal issues with the original Weapons on Wheels was that it was too slow and visually unappealing.  In the sequel, my main goals were to have beautiful graphics, faster cars, and explosive weapons.

In hindsight, I can see why the original Weapons on Wheels did so well even though its gameplay and visuals are relatively dull.  It was in that simplicity that players were able to just play the game and have a good time without even having to think about it.

While Weapons on Wheels suffered from dull action, Weapons on Wheels 2 tipped the scale in the other direction with many of the criticisms focused on not being able to control the fast cars, too much chaotic action, and constantly hitting the walls.

One of the best ways to remedy these issues would be to introduce a minimap, bigger/wider tracks, and give the player a much larger field of view.  This, along with other modifications, would allow for a much better gameplay experience in my opinion.  Maybe in the next sequel!

Gameplay Trailer

In addition to the gameplay trailer, I also created various alpha videos during the process of development, showing the evolution of the game.  These videos can be viewed below:

All artwork, animation, and programming was done by myself using Adobe Flash, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Flash Builder utilizing the Starling framework.
